Do you include the wood court in a gym takeoff?
Only when the documents specify a court system. A sprung maple floor is a sports-floor scope, with its own sleeper or pad schedule, not a rubber tile count.
Clubs and training rooms
A gym is several floors. The free-weight area, the cardio deck, a studio, a locker room, and a childcare room rarely share a thickness, a tile size, or a roll width. One square-foot rate for “the gym” hides the expensive room.
List every room with its specified surface. A 8 mm interlocking tile and a 3/8 inch rolled floor are different lines even when both are called rubber.
Module math only. Confirm the specified tile size.
Rolled rubber is cut from a manufactured width. Sketch the seams against that width before applying a flat percentage. Interlocking tiles are counted from the tile module and the edging pieces at the border. The edging is a separate SKU.
Weight platforms, a lifting lane, and wall padding are counted from the plan symbols. Folding them into the rubber area double-counts or misses them, depending on how the drawing was hatched.

Thickness is a specification. The estimate uses the thickness on the schedule and a supplier quote for that product. It does not invent a dollar step per millimeter.
