California flooring scope is a submittal problem as often as a quantity problem
Title 24 is an energy code and CALGreen is a green-building code. On flooring, the practical effect in many institutional specifications is a low-emitting material requirement, often written around CDPH Standard Method (Section 01350) testing. That is a submittal, not a different square foot.
Name the emissions requirement or exclude it
If Division 01 requires CDPH/CHPS-style emissions documentation, the estimate should say the product must arrive with that documentation. Do not claim a product complies because the job is in California. Check the product’s current declaration.
Coastal humidity and inland drying both move wood
A coastal site and an inland valley do not condition wood the same way. Follow the product instructions for acclimation and for the moisture content of the wood and the substrate. Do not invent a statewide moisture percent.
Polished concrete on campuses
Office and campus sets often polish the slab in open areas and use another finish in wet rooms. Subtract the wet rooms. Edge grinding at columns is a linear condition, not a second copy of the area.
Worked subtraction before a polish quantity
- Floor plate 22,000 sq ft.
- Restrooms, a tile servery, and a carpeted conference suite on the finish schedule: 3,400 sq ft.
- Polished area carried: 18,600 sq ft.
- The emissions submittal is a document requirement on the resin or adhesive lines that remain. It does not change the 18,600.
The allowance is an example inside a band already published on this site. It is not a local price and not a required waste factor.

Questions from California plan sets
Does this page certify Title 24 compliance?
No. Title 24 compliance is a project-permit question. This note only explains why flooring specs in California often ask for emissions documentation.
Are city pages for Los Angeles and San Diego still indexed?
They redirect to this state note. A city name was the only difference.
