Georgia jobs split into humid housing and big slabs
Metro Atlanta housing and the distribution buildings on the freight corridors do not share a floor. One is often a plank or wood floor on a slab or a crawl space. The other is a jointed industrial slab. Estimating both as “Georgia flooring” is how the old city pages were written. This note keeps them apart.
Crawl space versus slab
A crawl-space wood floor needs the ventilation and moisture condition the wood instructions require. A slab plank floor needs the slab moisture condition the adhesive requires. Say which substrate the plans show.
Humidity is a condition, not a waste factor
A warm-humid summer does not add 5% to the tile order. It is a reason to follow the product’s acclimation and adhesive limits.
Distribution slabs
Measure coating and joint filler the same way as any other warehouse. The state does not get its own joint spacing. The structural drawings do.
Worked sheet-vinyl cut from a roll width
- Clinic room 22 ft wide by 30 ft long. Specified sheet width 12 ft.
- Runs: 22 ÷ 12 = 1.83, so 2 runs of 30 ft.
- Material length 60 ft. At 12 ft wide that is 720 sq ft ordered against 660 sq ft net.
- The 60 sq ft difference is the leftover strip, which a flat 5% allowance (33 sq ft) would have under-ordered.
