North Carolina · ASHRAE Zone 3A & 4A (Mid-Atlantic Mixed Humid)
A Raleigh suite and a coastal slab are different floors
North Carolina runs from a mixed-humid Piedmont to a wetter coast. Tenant improvements in Charlotte and the Research Triangle are usually finish-schedule problems: carpet tile in the open area, LVT in the break room, a base throughout. Coastal and slab work adds the moisture and wet-area questions. One swapped city page used to pretend those were the same article.
Tenant suites
Measure by the finish plan of that suite. A building standard carpet and an alternate LVT are alternates, not one blended area. Demolition of the existing floor is included only if the invitation says so.
Base is the long number
On a small suite the wall base can matter more than a 5% waste debate. Measure linear feet and corners. Do not derive the base from the square footage.
Coastal assemblies
If the project is on the coast and the spec shows a membrane or a different adhesive, follow that spec. Do not copy a Piedmont carpet assumption onto it.
Worked suite with two finishes
- Open office carpet tile 2,400 sq ft. Break room LVT 180 sq ft. Base 420 linear feet, counted from the walls.
- Carpet tile illustrative 4% allowance: 2,400 × 1.04 = 2,496 sq ft. At 20 sq ft per carton, 124.8, so 125 cartons.
- LVT illustrative 8%: 180 × 1.08 = 194.4 sq ft. At 36 sq ft per carton, 5.4, so 6 cartons.
- Base stays 420 linear feet plus the corner pieces the base system uses.
The allowance is an example inside a band already published on this site. It is not a local price and not a required waste factor.

Questions from North Carolina plan sets
Do you treat Charlotte and Wilmington as one labor market?
No. Labor is quoted locally. This page only separates the assemblies.
Where did the city URLs go?
They redirect to this note or, outside the ten states with a guide, to a noindex directory.
